The Kwankwasiyya Movement has tackled former Niger Delta militants’ leader, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, accusing him of fanning the embers of religious sentiments to divide Nigeria, at a time when Nigerians are preparing to participate in the 2027 general elections, with the desire and hope to elect leaders that will ensure peace, progress, unity, security and economic stability of the country, irrespective of ethnic and religious divide.
The Kwankwasiyya Movement was replying to recent comments made by Asari Dokubo claiming that its leader, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, will lose his political stronghold in Kano, and lose relevance in Nigeria’s political landscape, because he (Kwankwaso), “sells Muslims for kobo kobo.”
A Statement signed by the Spokesperson of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, indicated that: “The Kwankwasiyya Movement has taken note of the reckless and deeply offensive remarks made by Asari Dokubo against our leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
“We wish to state, without ambiguity, that such comments are not only false but a desperate attempt to distort reality, mislead the public, and inject needless division into Nigeria’s already sensitive political climate.”
Dr. Mohammed maintained that, “to allege that Senator Kwankwaso would ‘sell Muslims for kobo kobo’ is as absurd as it is insulting.”
According to him, “it is a statement completely detached from both his record and his lifelong commitment to justice, equity, and the upliftment of all Nigerians irrespective of religion, ethnicity, or region.
“Senator Kwankwaso’s political journey has been defined by service, integrity, and a consistent stand against oppression and marginalization.
“It is important to remind Nigerians that leadership is measured not by loud rhetoric or inflammatory outbursts, but by verifiable contributions to human development, education, infrastructure, and inclusive governance areas where Kwankwaso’s record remains visible and enduring.”
Dr. Mohammed insisted that the Kwankwasiyya Movement views Asari Dokubo’s comments as “part of a broader pattern of distraction, an attempt to shift focus from the real issues confronting Nigerians: economic hardship, insecurity, and growing inequality.
“Resorting to baseless attacks and divisive narratives does nothing to address these challenges; it only deepens mistrust and undermines national cohesion.”
Dr. Mohammed, who vehemently frowned at Asari Dokubo’s utterances, however, noted that the Kwankwasiyya Movement, “will not be drawn into the gutter of abuse and propaganda, especially from those whose history and background speak more of violence, criminality and illegality perpetrated against our nation in disguise as freedom fighting.”
He added, “However, we will firmly resist any attempt to malign our leader or rewrite history through falsehoods.
“We call on all well-meaning Nigerians to reject politics of bitterness and misinformation. Our democracy deserves mature discourse, issue-based engagement, and leaders who unite rather than divide.
“Nigeria belongs to all of us. No individual or group has a monopoly on defining the destiny or loyalty of any religious or social group.
“The Kwankwasiyya Movement remains resolute in its commitment to building a just, united, and prosperous Nigeria for all.”
