What Sierra Leone, Guinea Presidents Sealed at the Mano River Peace Talks

Presidents of Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Guinea emerged from the peace talks in Conakry successful in nipping the bud in all areas.

It was, however, the meeting between Guinea’s Doumbouya and Sierra Leone’s Bio that was even more spectacular

Both Presidents, former military leaders, are now more committed to a lasting peaceful resolution to border tensions, particularly the nagging issue of Yenga that has been hanging too long.

Bio, the current ECOWAS chair, took the lead in the ongoing diplomatic engagements.

It was mutually agreed, in concrete terms, a continuation of an open border among the three countries, even without passports, but with valid ECOWAS IDs

Doumbouya conceded a huge trade volume between the two countries, particularly agricultural and household commodities. “We are truly brothers in all ramifications, no more border tensions between us”, he concluded
