Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu, has expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his strong support for the Argungu Fishing Festival.
Speaking during the flag-off of the Argungu Motor Rally on Wednesday in Abuja, he noted that the President’s recent engagement with the Governor of Kebbi State, Dr Nasir Idris, and his willingness to attend the festival have generated significant national and international publicity for the cultural event and the associated motor rally.
He emphasised the Tinubu administration’s recognition of Nigeria’s rich cultural and creative sectors, noting that the country’s traditions, heritage, and creative spirit are valuable economic resources that can promote growth, attract investment, and create jobs.
Bagudu congratulated Idris on his leadership and dedication to maintaining the Argungu Festival, recalling his participation in the festival in March 2020, just before the COVID-19 lockdown, and praising the event’s ongoing development and growth over the years.
He described the festival and the motor rally as a demonstration of the resilience of the Nigerian people, noting that the rally—covering Abuja, Kano, and Argungu—sends a strong message that Nigeria is on the move, normalcy is being restored, and investments in security are yielding positive results.
The minister recognised the representatives of the investment community, the automotive industry, the creative economy sector, government officials, diplomatic representatives, community leaders, and other distinguished guests.
He also praised private sector sponsors and participating automotive companies, describing their involvement as a strong vote of confidence in Nigeria’s economy.
He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting domestic manufacturers and investors who believe in Nigeria and contribute to local production and value creation.
Bagudu described the Argungu International Fishing Festival and Motor Rally as a national platform that highlights Nigeria’s unity, cultural heritage, resilience, and economic potential, while expressing optimism for a successful and safe event.
