Flags and pictures of chieftains of the All Progressive Congress (APC) have adorned Kano Government House, as preparations are currently in top gear to officially welcome Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf into the party.
As at the time of filing this report, Monday afternoon, APC chieftains led by the immediate-past National Chairman of the party, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, are already in Kano Government House, putting final touches in the arrangement to offer Governor Yusuf the party’s e-registration card and officially usher him into the party.
Party supporters were seen cheering and dancing within and outside the Kano Government House gate, amidst tight security, with less molestation.
Coronation Hall, venue of the event, situated at the ear of Government House gate is already full to the brim with guests and party supporters, waiting for the arrival of Governor Yusuf, Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Kano state House of Assembly, Local Government chairmen, most of the members of Governor Yusuf’s cabinet, among other supporters and political bigwigs who have decided to rejoin APC with him.
The New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) flag and other property have been quietly removed from the Kano seat of power and replaced with colourful APC symbols.
The political atmosphere in the ancient commercial city of Kano remained calm and cool as people were seen going about their daily businesses, while APC supporters and the decampees are soaked in jubilation over the latest political development in the state.
Governor Yusuf has insisted that his decision was not for selfish interest, but for the greatest good and interest of Kano and its people.
