The Ogun State Government has celebrated International Community Day and World Trade Day, highlighting the importance of community engagement, trade, and economic empowerment.
In his address, the Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun emphasized the administration’s commitment to uplifting every community in the state.
He commended the efforts of the Honourable Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperatives, Alhaji Ademola Balogun, and his team for promoting community engagement and supporting skills development.
While speaking through the Deputy Governor Engr Noimot Salako -Oyedele said the present administration has implemented various initiatives to empower communities, artisans, and trade associations, including the “Building Our Future Together” Agenda. This has led to the provision of N500 million as soft loans, N250 million as grants to artisans and trade associations, and additional grants to over 200 Community Development Associations.
The Governor also announced the establishment of three Job Centres and Work Hubs to support artisans and jobseekers, with plans to expand to all 20 local government areas.
The administration has also partnered with the Giessen-Friedberg Chamber of Commerce and the German Industry and Commerce International Business Services to broaden opportunities for artisans and cooperatives.
Grants were disbursed to Community Development Associations, trade and artisan groups, and individual recipients to support community projects and economic goals.
The Governor urged beneficiaries to use the resources wisely and work together for the progress of their communities.
The celebrations were attended by representatives from the Ogun State Community Development Council and the Ogun State Trade and Artisans Council, who were commended for their contributions to the state’s growth.
