In a special invitation by South Africa’s G20 Presidency, ECOWAS Chairman, Julius Maada Bio is currently participating at the first ever G20 summit to be hosted on the African continent in South Africa.
G20 comprises 19 countries, including US, Uk, France, Germany, India, but only South Africa and the AU are Africa’s full representatives.

President Bio was specially invited by South Africa’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa, the host.
Bio is the first Sierra Leonean President, in his capacity as EXOWAS Chair, to attend a G20 summit since its formation on September 26, 1999, after the Asian financial crisis.
This year’s G20 summit ongoing in South Africa will address existential issues like climate change, trade, tariff, migration, terrorism and illicit financial transactions
