The Waiya Foundation has supported 250 pupils in Dala Local Government Area, Kano, with education materials, as part of its determination to ensure full enrolment of all school children across Kano state.
The beneficiaries who are mostly underprivileged children received school uniforms, learning materials, and the payment of Parent Teachers Association (PTA) fees.
The President of the Foundation who is also Kano state Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Abdullahi Ibrahim Waiya, also gifted financial support to 36 tertiary institution students to assist them with their upkeep.
In his remarks during the event, Waiya said: “Education has always been my priority towards community support. The Educational Support Programme by Waiya Foundation is an initiative I founded long before my appointment as Commissioner.
”This initiative is designed to complement the Kano State Government’s efforts under the able leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, in the education sector.
”We have played our part now, I therefore call on parents and guardians to do their part by ensuring that every child remains in school and is encouraged to focus on learning.”
According to him, “the Waiya Foundation remains committed to sustaining this effort, with a vision of building an educated and empowered community, where every child is supported and equipped to usher into the future with knowledge and confidence.”
