‎Kano state government has concluded plans to train the newly recruited Guards Convoy Protection Unit for Very Important Persons (VIPs).

‎The Commissioner of Internal Security and Special Services, AVM Ibrahim Umar (rtd), who inspected Gabasawa Institute, the ground for the training, expressed satisfaction over facilities put in place for the exercise which begins on Sunday.

‎The Commissioner inspected a parade of honour mounted by operatives of the institute before being taken on a tour of the facilities by the Commandant, retired Captain Muhd Bello Maigaskiya.

‎Among the facilities inspected were offices, a power generating set, dining hall, kitchen, hostel, and training ground.

‎AVM Umar urged the staff of the Institute to rededicate themselves to the Institute’s objectives and ensure that trainees receive the highest standard of training.

‎“The instructors must guarantee that the trainees acquire the maximum required skills to deliver better results,” he added.

‎The commissioner further stated that the first batch of trainees, numbering 300, will arrive at the Institute on Sunday, for a two-week intensive training programme.
