KSP strengthens security with CCTV camera

The management of Kogi State Polytechnic, KSP, says it has installed Closed-Circuit Television, CCTV, cameras and communication gadgets to strengthen its security architecture, just as it has fortified its results and certificates with new features to make them forgery-proof.

Rector of the institution, Prof. Salihu Ogbo Usman, who made this known, added that since the introduction of the devices at the gates and other strategic points, both life and property have become safer at the institution’s main and satellite campuses in Lokoja and Itapke, respectively.

Ogbo spoke on Tuesday in Lokoja, the state capital, while featuring at the Stewarfship Forum organised by the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Kogi State Council.

While speaking on its academic programs, the rector disclosed that the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, has accredited no less than 47 courses being run by the institution.

He listed the establishment and accreditation of the School of Agricultural Technology at Itakpe, which offers four programs: Agricultural Technology, Animal Health and Production Technology, Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Technology, and Horticulture and Landscape Technology, as a major feat.

His words, “Constitution of Academic Board Central Results Verification Committee, leading to proper scrutiny of results, cost effectiveness, and reduction in time wastage at the Academic Board meetings; Introduction of Computer-Based Test (CBT) for the conduct of the General Studies and other examinations with large classes, which has curbed unethical practices and ensured prompt release of results.

He further said that to avoid fake results, they have provided a new statement of result template with additional security features against falsification, and also the E-results computation and display of semester results online for students.

Furnishing and provision of adequate up-to-date textbooks, journals and e-library components at the Polytechnic Library, Establishment and successful Resource Inspection of Mass Communication, Clothing and Textile Technology and Printing Technology programmes at the ND level.

He explained that KSP has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) for collaboration, smooth take off and eventual accreditation of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering Technology at the School of Engineering, Itakpe.

He also pointed to the academic Linkage and Affiliation with the Federal University Lokoja for Top–Up Degree and Regular Undergraduate Programme as a means of updating the certificate of its products.
