Police in Kano, have arrested 10 receivers and buyers of stolen motorcycles, while seven motorbikes have been recovered from the wrong hands of criminals.
The recovered stolen motorbikes have been handed over to their owners.
The feat was as a result of renewed fight against motorcycle theft staged by Kano state police command.
Following the arrest of a notorious motorcycle thief, Dahiru Jibrin, on 11 August, 2025, further investigations conducted by the Anti-Cyber Crime Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) led to the arrest of 10 receivers of stolen motorcycles and the recovery of seven stolen motorcycles.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the recovered motorcycles have been handed over to their rightful owners as part of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
“This achievement underscores the relentless efforts of the Kano State Police Command to dismantle criminal networks, including those involved in motorcycle theft and the illegal trade of stolen goods,” Kiyawa stated.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the officers involved in the investigation for their professionalism, diligence, and dedication to duty.
Bakori also urged members of the public to continue supporting the Police by providing timely information and cooperating in efforts to maintain peace and security across the State.
