The Onidiri Festival, in partnership with the Tayese Academy of Arts and Culture (TAAC), London, is delighted to present the Hairitage Exhibition 2025. This collective art showcase is devoted to examining the cultural, historical, and aesthetic importance of hair and beauty. The exhibition will be live from 12th – 30th August 2025. Physical exhibition will be held on 23rd of August, 2025.
With the guiding theme “Hair, Beauty, and Its History,” the exhibition highlights the dynamic connections between identity, tradition, and artistry through painting, photography, fashion, sculpture, and mixed-media works.
The selection process was juried by Kikelomo Solomon-Ayeni, renowned for her dedication to illuminating cultural narratives within the arts. Curatorial direction was provided by Favour Ben and Racheal Joy Okogie, celebrated as a Visual Artist, Curator, and Cultural Producer.
Featured in this edition are contributions from an eclectic group of artists, including:
Olalekan Adetunji, Rasaq Adewunmi, Chukwudi Okoro, Toluwalope Molake, Fausat Ladokun, Bukola Abiodun, Hillary Emetuche, Sunday Oluwaseyinfunmi Dabo, Dennis Abhuru, Anselem Nkoro, Chidinma Oligbo, Ruth Adeleye, Abayomi Shogbade, Tejumola Animashaun, Ifejoku Uzor Pamela, and Olanrewaju Q. Atanda.
Reflecting on the purpose of the project, the organisers shared:
“Hair has never been just about appearance—it embodies ancestry, memory, and personal identity. This showcase reimagines hair as an artistic expression while celebrating its role in cultural storytelling and individuality.”
