*Ganduje congratulates new APC national chairman

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has congratulated Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda on his emergence as the new National Chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
Prof. Yilwatda, the immediate-past Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, was on Thursday rectified as the APC National Chairman by the party’s National Executive Council (NEC).
He succeeded former Governor of Kano state, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who voluntarily resigned his position for personal reasons.
A Statement by Governor Radda’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, indicated that the Governor, who is also a committed member of the APC family, congratulated Prof. Yilwatda on his well-deserved elevation, describing it as a strong reaffirmation of the party’s dedication to competence, internal reform, and connection with the grassroots.
Governor Radda emphasised that Prof. Yilwatda’s emergence comes at a defining moment in the party’s history, bringing with it renewed energy and a clear sense of direction.
He reaffirmed that the new Chairman’s track record as a technocrat and administrator will be a major asset to the APC’s leadership.
“Prof. Yilwatda has consistently proven himself to be a forward-thinking leader with the intellectual depth and political maturity required to lead the APC at this defining moment in our national journey,” Governor Radda stated.
He also highlighted the new Chairman’s impressive background in public service and academia, noting that his wide-ranging credentials will be critical in navigating the complexities of national party administration.
“Here is a man who understands the delicate balance between policy, principle, and people.
“I am confident that under his guidance, the APC will not only grow stronger but become more attuned to the hopes and aspirations of ordinary Nigerians,” Governor Radda stated.
Prof. Yilwatda, aged 56, is a distinguished engineer, academic, and seasoned public servant.
His career spans academia, electoral administration, and national service.
Before his latest elevation, he served as Nigeria’s Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, a role he assumed in October 2024.
Between 2017 and 2021, he served as Resident Electoral Commissioner for INEC in Benue State, where he supervised inclusive electoral processes in internally displaced persons’ camps and other sensitive areas.
Before that, he was the ICT Director and a respected lecturer at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi.
In 2023, he contested as the APC gubernatorial candidate in Plateau State, showcasing his deep political engagement and regional commitment.
Governor Radda urged the new APC National Chairman to continue on the path of reform and inclusivity, and expressed strong optimism that his leadership would usher in greater strategic foresight, cohesion, and people-centred progress within the party.
“On behalf of the Government and the good people of Katsina state, I warmly congratulate Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.
“We pray that Almighty Allah grants him the wisdom, strength, and clarity needed as he takes on this critical national responsibility.
“The APC stands to gain greatly under his leadership,” Governor Radda concluded.
Ganduje congratulates the new APC national chairman.
The immediate-past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has congratulated his successor, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, on his emergence as the new National Chairman of the party.
In a statement he signed and made available to journalists, Ganduje described the emergence of Prof. Yilwatda as strategic, noting that, “it comes at a critical period in the life of the party.”
Recall that the former governor of Kano state recently resigned from his position as the APC National Chairman, on personal grounds.
Ganduje expressed profound confidence in the capacity, intellect, maturity and administrative competence of the new chairman to move the party forward.
The former chairman also used the opportunity to commend the APC National Executive Committee (NEC) and other organs of the party for ensuring a transparent and consensus-driven process that led to the emergence of Prof. Yilwatda.
Dr. Ganduje also tasked the new National Chairman to build on the solid foundations and legacies he (Ganduje) laid during his tenure, just as he had built on the efforts and achievements of his predecessor.
He expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their statesmanlike roles and wisdom in guiding the party through the transition process that culminated in Yilwatda’s emergence.
“Our President and Vice President have once again shown maturity and far-sightedness in the affairs of our great party. Their commitment to ensuring cohesion and stability within the APC is commendable, and I urge all stakeholders to rally around the new leadership to deliver on the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” Ganduje said.
Dr. Ganduje called on the National Working Committee (NWC), NEC, state chapters, youth and women wings, as well as all other stakeholders of the APC, to offer their full cooperation and unwavering support to the new chairman, stressing that unity, discipline, and loyalty must remain the cornerstone of the party under the new leadership.
“As I bow out with a sense of fulfilment, I wish to assure Prof. Yilwatda of my unflinching support, counsel, and brotherly solidarity. I urge all our leaders, governors, lawmakers, and faithful party members across the federation to queue behind him and give him the necessary backing to consolidate on our party’s vision of building a united, progressive, and inclusive political platform for all Nigerians,” he stated.
Dr. Ganduje further pledged to continue offering his experience and political guidance whenever called upon, reaffirming his dedication to the APC’s growth and the democratic development of the country.
He concluded by praying for divine wisdom, strength, and courage for Prof. Yilwatda as he takes up the mantle of leadership at a time of both opportunity and responsibility.
