*To Ensure No Liberian Goes to Bed Hungry

Liberian President Joseph Boakai has signed the National Food Assistance Agency (NFAA) Act 2020 into law. This is to address Liberia’s food insecurity challenges.
It is also to reduce poverty, increase social protection, thereby enabling no Liberian goes to bed hungry.
Boakai, in an exclusive interview with this medium in August, 2024, revealed his intention to achieve this milestone, as one of his humanity programs.NAFAA will be a strategic agency, with a Director General, a board, with consent and approval of the Senate, a matrix of professionals, both local and international, geared toward achieving the sustainable development goal 2: Zero Hunger to Liberians.
NAFAA is now a statutory body, backed by law, with the critical responsibility to develop, implement and coordinate national food assistance programs.
The agency is also tasked to mitigate emergency food alleviation programs, particularly targeting the vulnerable, with a pro poor policy posture, in tandem with Boakai’s ARREST agenda.
NAFAA legislation was officially approved on June 17, 2025, printed and published by authority of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Liberia is a resourced rich country, but the vast majority of people live below $2 per day particularly in the rural areas.
President Boakai, in TheNEWS interview, remarked that his “ mission in office is to improve the lives of Liberians”.
