Kano was agog on Wednesday as unprecedented crowd welcomed the state Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, who just returned from Saudi Arabia where he performed the holy pilgrimage.
The Governor’s convoy took several hours to meander from Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) to Government House.
Thousands of people gathered from the airport to various strategic locations, where the snail-paced convoy would make a stop as the Governor acknowledged cheers and greetings from happy residents.
Governor Yusuf who stood for hours at the motor-roof acknowledged cheers from the gathering crowd, assuring them of his renewed zeal to keep dispensing democracy dividends.
The huge crowd, most of whom carried pro-Governor Yusuf placards displayed peace and orderliness as no violent incident was recorded.
Security operatives were also on hand to control the crowd as Governor Yusuf’s convoy passed through the major streets of Kano before entering the Government House, where another set of crowd, including government officials also gathered to welcome him.
