Tragedy struck in  Kano on Saturday as 21  contingents returning from National Sports Festival (NSF), Ogun state, died in a fatal auoto-crash at Kura Local Government Area,  50 kilometres away from Kano city.

Ado Salisu, a Sports journalist who accompanied the group said 19 died on the spot, while three were later confirmed dead at the Kura General Hospital.

The remaining victim’s have been transfered to Murtala Mohammed Specialist hospital for better medical attention, at the orders of the state government.

Our Correspondent learnt that the vehicle, carrying about 35 passengers, swaved off a bridge at Dakstalle town.

The vehicle was almost approaching Kano, after travelling from Ogun all through the night when the incident occurred.

The ill-fated bus was the last one returning from Ogun, out of eight vehicles that left Kano for the National Sports Festival in Ogun state.

The fatal accident has sent shockwaves across residents of the ancient commercial city.
