Kano state Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has appointed retired Air Vice Mashal  Ibrahim Umar as the new Commissioner for Internal Security and Special Services in the state.

Umar, before joining Governor Yusuf’s cabinet, served as the Director-General, Special Services Directorate, Government House, Kano.

The swearing-in ceremony  took place shortly before the 28th Kano State Executive Council meeting held at new Government House in the Kwankwasiyya City.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mustapha Muhammad.

In a brief remark, Governor Yusuf stated that AVM Ibrahim Umaru was appointed based on merit and his commitment to coordinating the operations of security agencies across the state.

“AVM Ibrahim’s expertise in handling critical security roles, along with his distinguished military career marked by discipline, dedication, and unwavering service, makes him an ideal candidate to lead our internal security efforts,”  Governor Yusuf said.

Governor Yusuf urged the new Commissioner to leverage his wealth of experience in addressing security challenges, adding that, “I also expect him to work tirelessly to ensure that Kano remains a safe and prosperous place for all its citizens.”

AVM Ibrahim Umar (rtd) was, until his appointment, the Director-General of the Special Services Directorate at the Kano State Government House.
