NatalBond emerges from beta, supports first-time pregnant women, new African mums

Natalbond

After nearly two years of quiet but powerful work behind the scenes, NatalBond has officially launched its all-in-one mobile app, built especially for first-time pregnant women and new mums who need accessible health care, closer than ever before.

Since its online community opened on May 23, 2023, NatalBond has answered nearly 1 million questions, supported women across all 36 Nigerian states, 25+ countries, and celebrated the birth of over 3,000 babies. Now, the support women love is finally available in a single app.

Why NatalBond Matters

For first-time mums, every new symptom, every kick, and every silence can spark fear. “There’s nothing like the panic of 2 a.m. when something doesn’t feel right and you don’t know if it’s normal or serious,” said Ololade, co-founder of NatalBond.

“We built NatalBond so no woman has to go through those moments alone. You open the app, and a doctor is there.”

Built for This Moment

The app connects women directly to doctors and dietitians 24/7, including trusted voices like Dr. Temi, Dr. Gift, and other health professionals, who have spent over 14,000 hours responding to daily questions daily from real women.

“We answer everything from ‘Why am I bleeding?’ to ‘Can I eat this fruit?’,” said Dr. Temi, one of      NatalBond’s resident doctors.

“Sometimes, it’s not even about the answer, it’s about reassuring a mum that she’s not crazy or alone.”

“Every timely answer we give can reduce stress, prevent complications, or even save a baby’s life. It can be the difference between a mum brushing off a potentially dangerous symptom and going to the hospital for treatment,” added Dr. Gift. “And that’s why we do it.”

The Bigger Picture: A Generation of First-Time Mums

Between now and 2030, over 42 million children will be born in Nigeria. Of this, 30 – 40% will be first-time pregnancies; that’s more than 12 million first-time mums in just one country.

Across Africa, 282 million children will be born by 2030. Of those, at least 84 million will be born to first-time mothers.

NatalBond is laser-focused on this demographic, creating digital, affordable, trusted support systems that meet women where they are.
