Kano State Task Force Committee on Security Restoration and Youth Rehabilitation has arrested 31 notorious hoodlums and recovered assorted hard drugs used by hoodlums and criminals to disturb peace in the state.

Many of the hoodlums arrested were confirmed to be addicted to hard drugs, which worsens their unpatriotic activities.

The leader of the Task Force,  Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata, conducted the targeted clearance operations in Dorayi, Ja’in, Sharada, Unguwar Dabai, Dukawa, Kabuga, Kofar Mata and neighbouring areas, between 10 and 14 May 2025.

The intelligence-led targeted operations, which were conducted at criminal hideouts and black spots, resulted in the arrest of 31 suspects, including 25 suspected thugs and six suspected drug dealers.

Items recovered during the operation include: four dane guns; nine  knives and cutlasses; three clubs (gora); three and half parcels and wraps  of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa; 173 pieces of suspected exol tablets, and other suspected intoxicants were also recovered.

Among those arrested are notorious thugs in Dorayi Quarters, Kano, including Dan Abba, Bola, Baka Kashi, Ramos, Abba Maciji, and Abdul Baki.

All the 25 suspected thugs arrested have been charged to Magistrate Court number 16, Zungeru Road, Kano and remanded, while the six suspected drug dealers, including one notorious Rabi’u Hamza, have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.

The Task Force leader, Kofar Mata noted that, ” no doubt, this successful operation that led the identification and arrest of the insecurity arrowheads in Dorayi Quarters, will bring a lasting solution to the over two decades of thuggery-related conflicts in their area.

“The success recorded in the operations is a milestone achievement in the ongoing efforts to combat thuggery and substance abuse in Kano state.

“The composition of the committee which brought together combine security agencies and Government functionaries is dedicated to sanitizing the streets of Kano and restoring peace to the communities.

“The Kano State Joint Task Force Committee remains steadfast and resolute in its mission to create a safer, drug-free and peaceful environment for the benefit of all the inhabitants in the state.”
