President Julius Maada Bio celebrated his 61st birthday yesterday, not with pomp and pageantry, but with thought thought-provoking lecture on good governance.
A first colloquium lecture was held at the Bintumani International Conference Centre, where Nigeria’s former VP, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, was the guest speaker.
Osinbajo extolled Bio’s free quality education and his 30 per cent gender equality in the governance space as true testimonies to his leadership prowess and sterling qualities.
The theme: From Vision to Impact, the People-Centred Leadership Model, was primarily centred on human capital development as the hallmark of genuine development.
President Bio, in his speech, revealed that he chose a colloquium lecture to celebrate his birthday because he wants his people-centred policies chronicled for posterity, rather than an elaborate birthday bash.
The first colloquium series is expected to be an annual event, meant to reflect on policies of government, meant to cater for the people in all spheres of governance.
