Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has suspended the paramount ruler (Okumagbe of Uwano Kingdom), Agenebode, Dr. George Oshiapi Egabor.
Uwano Kingdom is located in the Estako East Local Government Area of the State.
The suspension, which takes immediate effect, was announced in a statement late Monday night by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Fred Itua.
The statement linked the suspension of the monarch to “recent cases of incessant kidnapping and killings in his domain.”
“Already, his secretary, Chief Peter Omiogbemhi, has been arrested by the relevant authorities, following a recent incident that led to the death of a Palace Chief, Late John Ikhamate.
“The suspension of the traditional ruler is indefinite,” Itua added.
