Founder of Diamond Bank (now Access Bank), Pascal Gabriel Dozie, is dead.

This happened Tuesday morning, just one day to his 86th birthday.

He died in the early hours of Tuesday.

The pioneer Chairman of MTN Nigeria, was born on April 9, 193 in Egbu, Owerri, Imo State.

He attended Our Lady’s School in Emekuku before proceeding to the London School of Economics, where he earned a degree in Economics and a Master’s in Administrative Science.

Dozie founded Diamond Bank in 1991, transforming it into a highly respected financial institution in Nigeria. He later passed the leadership to his son, Uzoma Dozie.

As a pioneer chairman of MTN Nigeria, Dozie played a crucial role in the country’s telecom revolution. His leadership, characterised by humility, integrity and vision, earned him national recognition, including the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) honour.

He is survived by his wife, Chinyere, and children.
