Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has congratulated Muslim faithful, particularly the Muslim Ummah in Lagos, as they join the rest of the world to celebrate Eid-el-Fitri, which marks the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan fasting and prayers.
He urged Muslims to uphold the lessons of Ramadan and to continuously show love, compassion and care to the people, particularly the needy and downtrodden in the society.
Governor Sanwo-Olu in his Eid-el-Fitri message issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Gboyega Akosile, wished the Muslim Ummah more of Ramadan festivities in good health and prosperity.
He appealed to Muslim faithful to continue to offer prayers for continued peace, growth, development and stability in Lagos and Nigeria.
The Governor urged Muslims in Lagos State and across Nigeria to continue on the path of spirituality and peaceful co-existence. He implored them not to depart from the lessons learnt during the holy month, especially on perseverance, tolerance and being of good behaviour to one another.
He said: “Today, I join millions of people around the world to wish our Muslim brothers and sisters in Lagos State and Nigeria a happy Eid-el-Fitri. Today’s celebration is a feast to mark the end of a month-long spiritual renewal after 29 days of fasting, prayers, and other religious acts.
“The Holy Month of Ramadan is very significant to Muslims across the world as one of the major pillars of Islam, which teaches abstinence from worldly pleasures, steadfastness in prayers and total submission to the will of Allah according to the Quranic injunctions.
“I want to admonish all of us that we shouldn’t allow all the prayers and fasting during the Holy Month to go to waste. Let us continue to imbibe and show that something important has passed through us and let it reflect in our words, our lives and our relationship with fellow human beings.
“We should not limit the goodness of our deeds to the Ramadan period alone; we must make the lessons and acts our way of life. We should continue to take care of the people around us, particularly the needy and downtrodden.”
Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has felicitated with our Muslim brothers and sisters commemo rating the Eid- el- Fitr with their colleagues all over the world, after successfully concluding their fast, advising that all concerned should allow the spirit of the Eid to be deeply felt in our society.
He also prayed that the spirit of the Eid should bring joy, renewed faith, and abundant blessings to every home.
Taking to his social media platform on Sunday, March 30, Governor Uzodimma further prayed that the Muslim faithful should see the occasion as one to foster harmony, mutual respect, and collective progress in our country.
His words: “On behalf of the Government and good people of Imo State, I felicitate with the Muslim faithfuls in Imo State and across the nation, as they commemorate this year’s Eid el-Fitr.
“With compassion and generosity guiding our interactions during this season, strengthening the bonds that hold us together as a nation, it is my prayer that the spirit of Eid be deeply felt in our society, fostering harmony, mutual respect, and collective progress.
“May this Eid bring joy, renewed faith, and abundant blessings to every home.”
The federal government declared Monday, March 31, 2025 and Tuesday, April 1, 2025 as public holidays to enable the Muslim faithful to celebrate the Eid-el- Fitr.
Oyebanji Felicitates Muslims at Ed- El- Fitr
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has felicitated Muslim faithful in the state and in the country on the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Governor, in his goodwill message, signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, on Sunday, congratulated the Muslim faithful on the completion of the 30-day fast, stressing the need to maintain the level of spirituality that characterized the Ramadan period all through the year.
Governor Oyebanji, admonished Muslims to put the teachings of the holy month to good use in all undertakings, urging them and adherents of other religions to continue to live in love, peace, and harmony with one another as brothers and sisters.
While noting that Ramadan is a season of discipline and sacrifice, the Governor urged Muslims to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr with modesty, emphasizing the need to show love and care for the needy above any other form celebration.
He stressed that prayers by the faithful are needed for the state and the country more than ever for God’s blessings and for greater level of peace and prosperity.
Governor Oyebanji who commended Muslims in the state for their unflinching support for his administration through prayers, counsel, and active participation in governance, urged them not to relent in their sundry constructions to the religious harmony and peaceful atmosphere being enjoyed in the State.
He urged adherents of all religions in the state to join the government in promoting peace and orderliness which are necessary condition for sustainable growth and development, leading to shared prosperity for all.
“On behalf of the Government, I congratulate the Muslim Ummah on the Eid-el- Fitri celebration, and pray that Almighty Allah will accept our prayers, grant all our heart desires and preserve our lives to witness many more celebrations.”, the Governor added.
Sallah: Ododo charges Muslims on peace, compassion
As the world globally cerebrated eid-el-fitir, Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has charged Muslim faithfuls to utilize the lesson of Ramadan fasting to foster unity and peace among the diverse ethnic groups in the state.
Governor Ododo gave the charge on Sunday at Muhammadu Buhari square in Lokoja where he prayed with his people to mark the end of Ramadan fast.
He charged Muslims to continue to reflect on the lesson of compassion, peace and progress learnt during the period of Ramadan fast in the interest of development of the state.
“I am deeply grateful to God for the gift of life and the rear privilege given to me and my team to serve the people of the state. I thank everybody in the state for their support and cooperation, which has been assisting us in ensuring that we deliver our campaign promises.
“My message to the people as they cerebrate eid-el-fitir is for them to continue to reflect on the lesson of compassion, peace progress,” Ododo said.
The governor called on the sons and daughters of Kogi State to join hands with his administration to enable him to build a state that every indigene would be proud of.
Imam Dhahir Hussaini in his Eid-El-Fitr sermon urged Muslims to always fear God Almighty in whatever they do on daily basis, reminding them that they should bear in mind that there is a day when every human would be called upon to give account of his or her activities on this earth.
He pointed out that God does not accept deeds except from the pious one, noting that whoever breaks God covenant from the straight path and return to deficiency and sin , such person would be denied God favour during the day of resurrection.
Eid-El Fitr: Edo CP Otimenyin congratulates Muslim Ummah, calls for religious tolerance
The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Betty Otimenyin, has congratulated the entire Muslim community in the State on sighting of the crescent moon to mark the end of Ramadan.
Otimenyin in a statement Sunday morning by the Command’s spokesman, CSP Moses Yamu, assured of a hitch-free celebration, as adequate security deployments have been made.
She also called for tolerance among members of the various religious organizations.
“The Commissioner assures the general public of adequate security, as strategic deployments have been made to priority areas such as prayer grounds, recreation centres, and other places of worship in collaboration with other security agencies to ensure hitch free sallah celebration.
“She emphasizes the need for peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance during this period while calling on parents and guardians to ensure that their wards do not engage in substance abuse or other social vices that could threaten the safety of others,” the statement said.
