Sierra Leone’s National Social Security and Insurance Trust, NASSIT, Monday, 25, 2025, conducted a pre- commissioning tour of its standard Sewa Grounds Market.
NASSIT DG, Fouad Daboh, took ministers of trade, employment, works, transport and other government officials on a tour of the 99% completed construction work.
The market is located in the heart of Freetown at the historic Victoria Park in the Central Business District.
Project Manger, Arc Abel Onomake revealed that he “ hired seven different contractors to work on various aspects of the project , to get value for money.“
He further revealed that the market has modern facilities like CCTV cameras, large water storage facilities and numerous ware houses and shops of different sizes, stating further that the size of the market is as big as two football pitches and can accommodate 2,500 traders.”
Minister of Employment, Mohamed Swarray described Onomake as a “celebrity “ in achieving a magnificent feat.
Onomake has successfully demonstrated architectural prowess and has truly fulfilled President Maada Bio’s long term aspiration about Sewa Market to provide a state of the art trading facility for the people, comparable to anywhere in Africa.
