Gov. Sule Distributes 30,000 Bags of Rice to the Vulnerable

NKRUMAH BANKONG-OBI/Lagos 

The governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule has distributed 30,000 bags of rice to the less-privileged people of the State. The rice is provided courtesy of the Aliko Dangote Foundation. The ceremony which was held on Tuesday at the Government House, Lafia the State capital, saw beneficiaries come from across the thirteen local government areas across the State.

At the distribution ceremony, Governor Sule said the gesture done by the State by Africa’s richest man is to ameliorate the pain felt by the most vulnerable members of the society. He appreciated Alhaji Dangote for his care. He warned that the produce is exclusively for the poor and not for persons in government employ. “The rice is strictly meant for vulnerable groups and not for government officials,” he warned. He made an exception for media practitioners, security operatives and religious organisations to benefit from the gesture.

In a bid to ensure equitable distribution of the rice which is bagged in 10kgs, each local government area received 2,007 bags while the leftover would be shared with selected vulnerable groups. The governor mandated commissioners, traditional rulers and council chairmen to oversee the distribution.

Representatives of the Dangote Foundation expressed their commitment to upholding charity as a core value of their organisation. Abdullahi Rilwan, the General Manager of Community Relations, noted that “The initiative aligns with Dangote’s commitment to humanitarian support, ensuring that those in need receive critical food assistance.
