In a milestone achievement, RANO AIR’s inaugural commercial flight touched down at the Ekiti International Cargo Airport, Ado Ekiti, on 7 February, marking a new era in aviation and economic development for the state.
The people of the state received the development with enthusiasm, though some, for political reasons, were cynical!
Biodun Adelabu submitted: “Congratulations! May this experience remain not only a continum, but a profitable and progressive venture for the Ekiti people, the Westerners, and Nigerians, in general.
The government of Ekiti should, without delay, put on its thinking and creative cap, and ensure that this historic flight doesn’t become only a Christmas experience in the state.
Ekiti must be ‘highly’ industrialised. Massive mechanised agricultural ventures must pronto be embarked upon. Cash crops — Cocoa, Cassava, Cashew, Yams, Igbemo rice, etc — must be mass produced for exportation.
Investors – local and foreign — should be attracted to the state with irresistible investment friendly environment and incentives by government and land owners.
The government, business giants and the entire good people of Ekiti State, must make sure that under no circumstance, should the Airport be outgrown by weeds, as a result of lack of business activities, as is the case in some areas.
More of structures of great economic, social, political, and indeed, intellectual development in the Fountain of Knowledge State. I say kudos to our visionary governor.
Morolake Adekunle also said this is good progress
However, in the view of Adewoye Solomon, “It’s a chartered flight from Abuja to Ado Ekiti by the former governor of Ekiti, Dr Fayemi and his friends who are in Ekiti to celebrates his birthday taking place in Isan Ekiti on 9 February.
Falayi Fola Richard reacted tht kudos to Fayemi for starting the project but knocks for commissioning an airport that was not completed with no control tower, boarding and arrival halls and landing equipment.
Sanmi T Owoeye was not cynical. He said: “Gradually we’re getting there, thank you to Rano Air. Let other Airlines follow the developments. Please kindly let our government equip the control tower to international standards, so the pilots will not be using calculation to land the plane. God bless Ekiti State in general.
Zaccheus Awolope thanked God who inspired Fayemi to have started the project. “Thank Governor Biodun Oyebanji for not abandoning the project, and thank Aare Afe Babalola for his enormous contributions, standing by the current government of BAO to achieve that feat.
While Ibitoye Kolade said this is wonderful, more grace, more achievement, long life Ekiti, long life NigeriaO
Omolade Oluwabiyi Peter submitted, “Kudos to Governor Fayemi for the initiative to build the airport. This will make a great positive impact on the economy of Ekiti State. Congratulations to my good people of Ekiti Kete.”
