The Bradford City Council Service Excellence Award was held on the 23rd of January, 2025 at the Mercure Bradford Bankfield hotel in Bingley (West Yorkshire). The event celebrated Bradford Council Staff and their accomplishment awarding up to ten (10) different categories.
Annabel Joseph Ojoboh had the privilege and honor of performing at this Event. Annabel is a UK-based multifaceted artist whose work transcends genres and borders. Known for her ethereal vocals and emotionally resonant performances. She blends classical, pop, and sacred music, often exploring themes of love, spirituality and introspection.
At this prestigious event, Annabel made a change in the atmosphere by pouring her heart into two ageless classics: “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserable and “My Way” by Frank Sinatra which was a way for her to connect with the audience through music. Her voice full of calm, beauty, warmth and also attractive, held the audience in a spell. Annabel’s performance was an incredible one where she was able to share the stage with so many inspiring individuals and celebrate their achievements.
Annabel, renowned for her flawless combination of classical grandeur and contemporary pop sensibility, infused the songs with added richness of meaning. Her performance was not just sung; it was felt, a hallmark of her deeply emotive artistic style. Through her expression, Annabel’s voice carried themes of liberation, courage, and authenticity. It was a performance filled with lots of energy which was a reminder that Art is a cornerstone of heritage and when music is poured from the heart, can turn a celebration into true inspiration.
The time allotted on stage was appropriately utilized, as she delivered her performance with perfection and balance. Annabel maintained a smooth pace throughout, to make sure the allotted minutes were multiplied without surpassing the schedule. Her performance was 8 minutes and 3 seconds all together which was delivered clearly, allowing the audience to appreciate both the technical quality and emotional depth of the songs. The use of the time reflected good preparation and professionalism, which contributed to the overall success of the event.
Annabel has continued to flourish in the United Kingdom with her gifted voice which carries more than beauty but also meaning. In Bradford, she has showcased her talent on celebrated stages such as the Bradford African Festival of Arts (BAFA), the Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust Mental Health Poetry Fundraiser, several Charity events and now at the Bradford City Council Excellence Service Awards amongst others. She is also a cherished member of the BBC Leeds Bantam of the opera choir, where her encouragement has helped many fellow singers grow in confidence, and she is proudly looked up to as a guiding voice in the soprano section. Her performances often bridge classical and popular music, garnering her praise for her nuanced and emotionally charged portrayals.
