Waiya handing over a gift to a spinal cord victim during the event

Kano state government and the MacArthur Foundation are collaborating to lift the burdens of spinal cord victims through the provision of essential commodities and skills that will enable them remain economy economically viable and self-reliant.

The  State Commissioner for  Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, said Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration is determined towards ensuring the welfare of people with special needs.

Waiya reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting people with special needs, particularly victims of spinal cord injuries, to improve their living standards.

The Commissioner made the promise during the distribution of essential materials to spinal cord injury victims, organized by the Spinal Cord Injuries Association in collaboration with the MacArthur Foundation.

Speaking at the event, Waiya emphasized the need for special assistance to alleviate the hardships faced by spinal cord injury victims and their families.

He assured them that the Kano State Government would continue exploring ways to enhance their well-being.

The Commissioner announced that the government would collaborate with the association to provide training in ICT and other fields to equip victims with skills and knowledge that will empower them and improve their quality of life.

The event, designed to create opportunities for spinal cord injury victims, featured the Commissioner presenting some of the donated materials to the victims.

Comrade Waiya commended the families of the victims for their dedication and resilience in caring for their loved ones.

He assured them that the Kano State Government remains committed to providing continuous support to ease their challenges.
