President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, had a rousing welcome to Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, this Monday. He was in the state for the festivities to mark the first anniversary of Governor Usman Ododo, who was inaugurated on 27 January 2024.
As part of his engagements, the Vice president commissioned multiple projects, including the about 8.5 km Zone 8/ Zango Daji/ Kaduna Junction, the 5.5km Crusher/ Zone 8, double lane roads, hostels and demonstration farm at Confluence University of Science and Technology, CUSTECH, Osara and Primary Health Centres, PHC.
Addressing the President’s delegation, Ododo said the projects executed were a demonstration of his desire to improve the well-being of the people of the state, noting that the projects scattered across the state were part of campaign promises to the people.
He thanked his predecessor for laying a solid foundation for him to consolidate upon for the growth and development of the state.
Immediately after commissioning the projects, the vice president and his entourage went to Government House, where they had some private chat with stakeholders before moving to Muhamadu Buhari Square for the proper anniversary celebration.
Dignitaries at the ceremony included the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Umar Dangoje, Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, and Ododo’s predecessors, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and Idris Wada.
