Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo has appointed a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Daniel Osikheme Orbih, as Chairman of the Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University (AAU).
He was named Chairman of the seven-man Board of the University, in a statement Tuesday evening by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Musa Ikhilor.
Other members of the Board include Martins Osakwe, Prof. Steve Amiemenkharu Iyayi, Lukman Muhammad, Prof. Idialu Jeremiah Uwaifo, Prof. Eric Kelly Inanemo Omogbai and Prof. Omoruyi Ikponmwonse Osahon.
“The appointment of the Governing Council takes immediate effect from December 31, 2024,” the statement noted.
Orbih is the leader of the Legacy Group faction of the PDP in the State.
The group openly rejected the candidate of its party in the 21 September governorship election in the state.
Instead, the group worked in the interest of the opposition APC that produced Governor Okpebholo.
