For Mr Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Strategy, December 2024 holds double barrelled celebrations. Apart from Yuletide that is in the air, giving all an upbeat mood, Onanuga gave out his daughter, Tobiloba Zainab in marriage to Ayodele Okugbenga Oshobajo.

The first leg of the event took place on Thursday 12 December, 2024, at the Podium Event Centre in Lekki.

Family members, friends andother acqaintances of both families attended.

They were entertained by traditional dancers wearing ankara fabriks and saki.

Prostration time for the groom, Ayodele

After he came in with his family, Ayodele, as tradition demands, had to undergo a “military” drill. The only difference is that the commander was not a regimental sergeant major but the master of ceremony (alaga iduro). The woman gave it a touch of class.

After this, Ayodele and his friends prostrated themselves flat to beg for the hand of Tobi in marriage. Prayers from the bride’s family poured on him like confetti.

Tobiloba and her parents

The moment the husband, his friends and family members had heen waiting for with craned necks came when Tobi breezed in with her bridal train.

To say that Onanuga and his wife, Toyin, were crowd pullers would be an understatement. The evnt was attended by Yetunde Onanuga, former Deputy Governor of Ogun State; the current Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals and former Deputy Governor of Lagos, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire.

For all guests, tension in the hot season was watered down by a squadron of drinks and food.

The second leg of the event held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Trinity Towers, Victoria Island, on Saturday, 14 December, 2024.

Report on this will come soon.
