Three dreaded kidnappers were among 62 suspects paraded at the Bompai headquarters of Kano state police Command on Tuesday.

Other suspected criminals paraded include eight  armed robbery suspects; 10 suspected cattle rustlers; one  suspect for abduction; four suspected drug dealers; six tricycle thieves; four motorcycle thieves; four suspected fraudsters; 22 suspected thugs (Yan Daba).

Police also rescued  one kidnapping victim; one abduction victim; and  10  human trafficking victims.

Exhibits recovered from the suspects include: counterfeit currencies equivalent to a total sum of N129,542,823,000:00;  six live ammunitions; three  tricycle and eight  motorcycles; three parcels and 175 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp; 250 pieces of diazepam tablets.

Others are 278 Sheep and seven Cattle; five necklaces and five earrings; 10 sims cards; 15 ATM cards; and 10 mobile phones.

Briefing journalists on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Salman Dogo Garba, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said: “In line with the directives and guidance of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM to all Police Commands and Formations on robust community policing engagements, intelligence-led policing and targeted operations to address any likely emerging security threat, the Police Command intensified intelligence-led crime prevention convoy patrols, continues raid of criminal hideouts and black spot, stakeholders engagements on security and massive public enlightenment and sensitization.

“These approaches have resulted not only to apprehension of criminals but also deter potential offenders from engaging in criminal activities. Major cases of Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, Thuggery (Daba) and Drugs Dealing have been surmounted. Emerging cases of Fraud and cyber crimes have been busted, seasonal cases of petty crimes, farmers and herders clashes have been brought to barest minimum while adequate security deployments have been made at Rimi Market and Kofar Mata to curtail the recent rivalry fights between youths of Kofar Mata, Zage and neighboring areas.

” Furthermore, I am pleased to report that as a result of the multifaceted approach adopted by the Command, Kano State has indeed become a safer and more secure place for all. Businesses are thriving, residents are feeling safer in their homes, and the general sense of security and well-being has been greatly enhanced.

” However, we acknowledge that there is still work to be done as we must sustain the tempo, and we will remain committed to continuously improving our efforts and strengthening our partnership with other security agencies and the community to ensure that Kano State remains a beacon of safety and security for residents and visitors alike.

“In addition, on this ember month that is characterized with increase in people and vehicular movement, improved business activities and celebrations, the command has make adequate security arrangements to ensure safe environment for all activities to unfold smoothly.
