Indy Press, a press club based at the University of Ibadan has announced a partnership with music critic Emmanuel Daraloye.

Making the announcement via its official X account, the platform announced its three-month internship programme which would be facilitated by  Daraloye.

This internship opportunity is tailored towards developing participants in the art and process of reviewing music across its varying genres with the participant expected to have Intensive training, Certification, Networking, Publication and more. The application closes on December 10, 2024.

Interested participants were urged to reach out to the Press Club via their social media handles.  This announcement comes more than a month after Emmanuel Daraloye delivered a lecture titled “ The Art of Music Criticism,” during a workshop organized by the press club, in which he urged new entrants to explore other genres apart from Afrobeats. In the lecture which lasted close to one hour, the English Education graduate of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo informed the audience about his desire to mentor anyone interested in music criticism. This announcement marks the fulfilment of the promise.

Emmanuel Daraloye has more than one thousand album reviews in his archive. He has written for more than fifteen media platforms across Africa.

The Great Independence Hall Press, University of Ibadan, shortly referred to as Indy Press, was established in 1984. It is a social-justice-oriented campus journalism outlet with a wide readership at the University of Ibadan.
