Liberian President Boakai at 80: Humanity now my concern

President Boakai being interviewed by Abubakar Hashim in Monrovia

Abubakar Hashim

When I had an exclusive interview with Liberia’s President Joseph N’yuma Boakai on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at his residence in Monrovia, he spoke about his upcoming birthday, today, November 30, 2024.

“ I’ll be 80, coming November. I don’t want anything material…. I want to leave a legacy, by improving the lives of the Liberian people”.

President Boakai clocks 80 today. He was born on November 30, 1944, in a remote village called Wasonga in the Foya chiefdom in Lofa County.

Wasonga is a stone’s throw from Sierra Leone’s diamond city of Kenema in eastern Sierra Leone.

From his biography, from Foya to the Capitol, President Boakai narrated his determination to attain education under severe circumstances.

He revealed in a published interview with TheNEWS, that his administration will change the economic direction of the country.

“ Why should foreigners own and control our economy? Why should a Liberian not get LCs from a Liberian bank to bring goods and services into the country?

These, among other burning issues President Boakai spoke to me on that memorable interview, are among the best wishes to the President as he celebrates his birthday today.

Happy Birthday Mr President

I wish you success and God’s guidance in your enormous tasks ahead as you celebrate your birthday today.
