Emir Sanusi during his visit to Muhammdu Buhari Specialist hospital where the freed minors are being rehabilitated

Kano state Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi 11 have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s intervention, leading to the release of 76 minors picked by security agencies, during the bloody endbadgovernance protest in Kano.

Security operatives pushed by the level of damage caused by the protesters who violently destroyed public, private property and looted items,  made mass arrests, including teenagers who engaged in the unpatriotic act.

The offenders upon arrest were quickly moved to Abuja where they were being questioned by security operatives until the compassionate intervention of President Tinubu which facilitated their release.

Governor Yusuf who revealed that he was not even aware that the minors were arrested and ferried to Abuja until Tinubu’s intervention, praised the president for his display of fatherly love towards the children.

The 76 minors who were kept for rehabilitation upon their freedom at Muhammadu Buhari Specialists Hospital, Gingiyu, Kano, regretted their actions.

Some of them who spoke to journalists recounted their ordeals in the hands of security agencies and urged their peers and youths to shun violent protest and always embrace dialogue.

Governor Yusuf and Emir Sanusi in the company of top government officials and traditional title holders visited the freed minors at their camp in Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital.

Emir Sanusi said most of the 76 detained and released minors who protested against bad governance, were almost losing their lives in detention.

The chairman of the Kano Council of Emirs lamented the harsh conditions the detainees were subjected to but commended the quick response of  President Tinubu who ordered their immediate release.

Emir Sanusi said: “We appreciate and thank President Tinubu who saved the lives of these Boys. It is disheartening that the boys were students going to schools and were not even there on the day of the protests when they were picked while the real organizers and sponsors of the actions were left moving freely both in Kano and Abuja.

“We would like to see people who are behind any negative actions being arrested henceforth, not innocent children who were picked randomly, not from one angle of Kano.”

Emir Sanusi who emphasized his gratitude to both the Government of Kano State and the Federal Government, explained that their intervention has safeguarded an ugly trend that would have caused disaffection in the country.

He added that “it is sad that they received this treatment even though they were picked up from the streets and not around the protest venues. Photos of the real culprit were taken but today they are moving freely.”
