A Professor of Constitutional Law and Governance, Edoba Omoregie, has been appointed 11th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin (UNIBEN).
Omoregie, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), will take over from the incumbent, Prof. Lillian Salami whose tenure ends on December 1.
His appointment was announced Friday, by the institution’s Chairman, Governing Council, Prof. Shaibu Umaru.
Umaru said Omoregie emerged as Vice-Chancellor of the university out of the 27 that applied for the coveted seat.
Born on 5 April 1969, Prof. Omoregie is a native of Benin and attended the University of Benin for his first, second and third degrees.
He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1992 and conferred with the prestigious Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2021.
