Police hand over 15 rescued human trafficking victims to NAPTIP in Kano

Kano state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Salman Dogo Garba has officially handed over 15 rescued human trafficking victims to the Kano Zonal Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

The victims, en route to Libya, were intercepted by officers in the Bachirawa area of Kano.

During a formal handover by the Kano State Police Command, NAPTIP’s Zonal Commander, Abdullahi Babale, revealed that the group consisted of 14 females and one male, aged between 17 and 40.

The were identified as indigenes of Akwa Ibom, Ogun, Cross River, and Ekiti States.

They were found at a secluded residence in Bachirawa Quarters during a police raid.

Babale commended Kano State Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo-Garba, for the rescue effort and highlighted that the victims would undergo counseling and rehabilitation before being reunited with their families.

He also emphasized the need for parents to be vigilant and protect their children from traffickers who lure them with promises of a better life abroad.

“Parents need to be vigilant and safeguard their children from exploitation,” Babale added. .

He further urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to human trafficking in their communities to help combat this growing threat.

Meanwhile, CP Dogo has hosted the Chairman of National Hajj Commission, Prof Abdullahi Saleh Pakistan and the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), Engr. Abubakar Yusuf.

The Kano Police boss also hosted the Director of Administration and General Services, Kano State Transport Authority (Kano Line), Alhaji Salihi Yusuf Ibrahim on condolence visit over the recent death of police officers retruning from Edo state on election duty.

The visit, which took place at the office of the Commissioner of Police, sought to strengthen collaboration and partnership between the Police Command and these prominent organizations.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of the Kano State Police Command in providing a secure environment for Hajj participants.

He seeks more support from the Command in ensuring the safety of pilgrims in Kano Sate.

The Managing Director of KEDCO appreciated the Kano Police Command for bolstering security around KEDCO facilities.

He also requested more security measures in safeguarding KEDCO infrastructure, especially in the current situation in the Country. He thanked the CP usual cooperation.

The Commissioner of Police commended the collaborative efforts between the Kano State Police Command, the National Hajj Commission, and the Kano Electricity Distribution Company.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment towards ensuring the safety and security of all residents and all critical government and private infrastructures in Kano State.

CP Dogo also appreciated the visit by the Director of Kano Line for finding time to extend his condolence for Police Officers that lost their lives recently in an accident.
