Here are things to know about Prof. Tunji Arokoyo as he clocks 80

Friends and family members of the renowned economist and agriculture extension expert, Professor Tunji Arokoyo, has felicitated with him on the occasion of his 80th birthday. He adds another year on Thursday, 24 October.

A relative of the celebrant Segun Joel Arokoyo, in a tribute, noted that being an octogenarian is a great and rare milestone in life, accompanied by numerous experiences, memories, and more wisdom.

He described the celebrant as “a lovely father, and international Academician, who have done much to leave a lasting legacy as a teacher of great repute. It is astonishing that at 80, Baba is still feisty, amiable, and bubbly like a young chap in his mid 30’s!”

As he climbs another ladder in time, here are some things to know about ‘Baba Agriculture’ as Prof. Arokoyo is fondly called:

* Born in 1944, he hails from Kabba, in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, Kogi State.

,* Even as a scholar with a widespread international network, over the years, he has remained a strong community leader with royal blood at home.

* He is known as a quintessentially religious and humane person.

* He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison

* He is an experienced professor with a demonstrated history of working in the human resources industry. Skilled in nonprofit organizations, coaching, rural development, public speaking, and market research.

* He used quality time of his career at the Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria NAERLS – National Agricultural Extension and Research Liaison Services.
