Ahead of the November 2, local council elections, the All Progressives Congress, APC, has selected its candidates for the polls. Thirteen chairmanship candidates and one hundred and forty-eight councillorship candidates represent the Party. This follows the submission of the report of the internal electoral committee of the Party to the Party Chairman, Dr. Aliyu Bello and his exco in Lafia on Friday, for onward submission to the Nasarawa State Electoral Commission, NASIEC.

Chairman of the Committee, Tanimu Adabson said the outcome was a culmination of the contributions of critical stakeholders of the Party, aspirants and party faithful. He said his committee as well as the aspirants followed the decisions taken by the critical stakeholders who were earlier tasked with selecting candidates for the polls, across the Local government areas. He said the selection process was based on a consensus system, one of several ways of conducting primaries as prescribed by the Party’s constitution. “We chose to go by consensus because the Party constitution in Article 20, provides that primaries can go by direct or indirect. By consensus we mean that stakeholders or other very important members of the Party could sit down together and deliberate on how to bring the best candidate that would run the affairs of the local government areas,” he averred.

The successful candidates and the LGAs as presented by the committee include:

Sefiyanu Isa Andaha                                       Akwanga
