* Recover  16 motor vehicles

Kano state police Command recorded the arrest of 1274 suspected criminal elements nabbed for committing various crimes at different times and locations within the state between January and September 2024.

The Command also recovered, among other items, 16 stolen vehicles in different areas within the state within a period of nine months.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Salman Dogo Garba who revealed this to our Correspondent in an exclusive interview said the data indicated that the wave of crime and criminal activities continue to come down in the ancient commercial city due to sustained efforts of the police and synergy among sister-security agencies.

CP Dogo, who was out of the state for an official engagement, spoke through the Commmand’s image-maker, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.

The police boss listed the suspects to include: 81 suspected armed robbers; 16 suspected kidnappers; 56 suspected thieves; 22 suspected drug dealers; and 10 suspected fraudsters.

Others were: 14) motorcycle thieves; 153 suspected thugs; 26 mobile phone snatchers; 11 motor vehicle thieves; three human trafficking suspects; and 882 suspects arrested during the 1st to 10th August nationwide protest.

The Command also recorded the rescue of five kidnapping victims; and 15 trafficking victims.

Two     AK-47 rifles, one Berretta pistol, two Dane guns, two toy guns and two locally-made guns, 47 live ammunitions, 16 motor vehicles, 17 solar batteries, 71 sharp knives and twenty-three (23) cutlasses, four Sacks, 298 pieces of Exol tablets, 20 sachets of tramadol tablets, 58 sachets of diazepam tablets and six pieces of D5 hard drugs, were some of the items recovered during the period.

Other items recovered include 132 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 30 cows, 15 sheep and four donkeys, and 45 ATM cards.

The Command also recovered ₦241,000.00 suspected to be counterfeit currency, 35,142,000:00, and 226 mobile phones.

CP Dogo appreciated the cooperation of patriotic residents and warned criminals and their collaborators to turn a new leaf or be ready to face the full wrath of the law.
