A mysterious fire outbreak perished goods worth billions of Naira at the Kantiin Kwari International Textile Market, Kano.
On Sunday, Alhaji Balarabe Tatari, Chairman of Kano Traders, confirmed that the inferno started around 7 p.m., Saturday, at Gidan Inuwa Mai Mai on Bayajidda Street and rapidly spread to multiple buildings within the market.
He, however, commended the response from the Federal Fire Service, Kano State Fire Service, and private companies, along with support from Sabon Gari, Dawanau, and Singa Markets management.
He said the fire destroyed several shops at the market.
“The prompt intervention of the Kano State Fire Service, the Federal Fire Service, and reinforcements from private companies, Sabon Gari, Dawanau, and Singa Markets put out the fire,” he added.
He also commended the presence of personnel from the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force, and other security agencies who helped to put the situation under control.
