Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated the Edo State All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on his victory at Saturday’s gubernatorial election in the State.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a congratulatory message issued on Monday morning by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Gboyega Akosile, described the outcome of the election as a landslide victory for APC.
He said Okpebholo’s victory is well deserved and a clear manifestation that the All Progressives Congress remains the party of choice for Nigerians at the local, state and federal levels.
Governor Sanwo-Olu saluted the people of Edo State, particularly the electorate, for rejecting the ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and defying all odds to vote for the APC and its candidate during the governorship poll.
The Governor advised the Governor-elect to “make his victory count for all the citizens and residents of Edo State, irrespective of their political affiliations, social and ethnic backgrounds”.
He said: “I congratulate Edo State APC governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for emerging victorious in Saturday’s gubernatorial election and returning as the duly elected governor.
“The landslide victory of Senator Okpebholo and the ruling party showed that Edo people know what is right, and they have done what is right by sacking the PDP and voting for the APC.
“Senator Okpebholo’s victory is a clear indication that the people of Edo State want a breath of fresh air in the State, and I believe, strongly that the APC government will surpass their expectations.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu also praised President Bola Tinubu for creating a level playing field for all the governorship candidates in Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Edo State.
He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for being an unbiased umpire in the election.
In the same vein, Governor Sanwo-Olu praised the security agencies for providing adequate security for the INEC and ad-hoc staff as well as political parties, electorates, and Edo people before, during, and after the election.
“I appreciate the leader of our party, President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima; APC National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, my colleagues, and other APC leaders, especially members of the Governor Bassey Ottu-led National Campaign Council for the Edo State Governorship election, for working tirelessly for the victory of our party in the Saturday’s governorship poll.
“I also commend the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for being an unbiased umpire and all the security agencies for providing adequate security for people during the poll,” he said.
*Ganduje congratulates the Edo Governor-elect
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has congratulated Edo state Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, “‘ on his well-deserved victory at the Edo State Governorship election.”
Ganduje in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Comrade Edwin Olofu, said, “The triumph is a testament to the confidence the good people of Edo State have in the progressive vision and leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led APC administration.”
Olofu added, “Dr. Ganduje, the ruling party’s National Chairman, conveyed the party’s warmest felicitations to Okpebholo.”
Ganduje asserted that Okpebholo’s victory, “reflects the trust and hope placed in his leadership, as well as the hard work and resilience of other party members and supporters who ensured a free, fair, and peaceful election.”
Ganduje expressed confidence that with Senator Okpebholo’s leadership, Edo State is poised to witness unprecedented growth, peace, and development that will transform the lives of its citizens.
He promised that Okpebholo will continue to uphold the values of good governance, transparency, and service to the people which have been the bedrock of the APC’s vision for Nigeria.
He further stated that APC remains committed to supporting his administration and working together to ensure that the vision of a greater Edo State is achieved for the benefit of all.
Ganduje thanked President Bola Tinubu and the Progressive Governors Forum for their immense support, stating that the victory is for all the people of Edo, and we look forward to a prosperous new chapter for the state.
Rivers APC commends, INEC, and REC for a credible election
The Caretaker Committee Chairman, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Tony Okocha has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC and the Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Dr Anugbum Onuoha for well conducted election.
Okocha who spoke while briefing Journalists at the party secretariat, in Port Harcourt today also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who created an enabling environment for the successful election.
Speaking further on the credibility of the election Okocha said:
“Nigerians can see the election in Edo was narrow the difference was less than 50,000 between the PDP candidate and that of the APC. I have not heard that the REC chairman distorted any result. We are sure that we are going to replicate what happened in Edo state at Delta and Rivers State come 2027”.
On the issue of the forthcoming October 5 Rivers State local government election, he said there is no visible “there is no sign to show that there is any election that would be held in the state”.
” Governor Siminalayi Fubara should stop deceiving Rivers state people because he knows that election cannot hold when the party has a court case”.
He also talked about the progress of APC in Rivers State asserting that the party has become robust and vibrant again.
He hinted that the party has resumed activities of “suspending and expelling” those who are causing distractions in the party, adding that the party’s progress has gathered recognition for us at the National level.
On the 27 Rivers lawmakers and the recent judgement by Okocha commended the judgement made by Justice Peter Odo Lifu.
” 27 House Assembly Members have said that they are not members of the APC. None of the 27 House Assembly members even by default are registered in their ward as APC party members or have a registration card.
“As far as we are concerned, the APC I lead which is in complete solidarity with the president we are in charge of and I stand for is APC Nigeria”.
