The presence of  the Edo State Governor Godwin  Obaseki in the premises of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Benin which is the venue of the final collation of the results of Edo State governorship election, caused a storm early on Sunday morning.

Members of the All Progressives Progress led by the deputy governorship candidate of the APC, Dennis Idahosa, insisted Obaseki had no business being at the place.

Idahosa who was shouting in protest, said: “Obaseki must come out. He is not supposed to be here. He is not an INEC staff. Nigeria Police should not compromise.”

The protesters were seen banging the gate even as the security agents prevented them from entering the premises.

Currently, it appears the pendulum of victory could swing in the direction of any of the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Asue Ighodalo and Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress.

Already, INEC has uploaded  98.23% of the results from the polling units on the IREV portal.
