The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has dissolved the 44 caretaker committee chairmen appointed to oversee the affairs of the 44 Local Government Areas in the state.
Governor Yusuf announced the decision during a special meeting with the caretaker committee chairmen held in Government House, Kano.
Our Correspondent reports that Governor Yusuf’s action came barely a week after the State House of Assembly approved a two-month extension of tenure for the caretaker chairmen.
The Local Government elections are slated to be held on October 26, 2024.
Governor Yusuf directed the caretaker chairmen to hand over leadership to their respective Directors of Personnel Management.
“This dissolution applies to all chairmen, vice chairmen, secretaries, and councillors,” he stated.
Governor Yusuf expressed gratitude to the caretaker chairmen for their contributions to the development of their respective Local Government Areas.
