Governor Siminalayi Fubara has sacked the Chairman of, Caretaker Committee of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Otonye Briggs,  with immediate effect.

This was contained in a press statement issued by Nelson Chukwudi, the Chief Press Secretary, of CPS, to the Governor.

According to the government statement, “The Governor has directed Bitebobo Nelson Amieye, to immediately take over as Chairman.

Briggs was directed to hand over all council property in his possession to the Caretaker Committee Chairman.

The sacking of Briggs is coming ahead of the October 5 local government council election in the state. No reason was given for his sack,(the only one among the 23 Caretaker Committee Chairmen).

However, unconfirmed speculations have it that the sacked CTC Chairman has been accused of disloyalty to political family of Governor Fubara. He was said to have been seen to be noticeably hobnobbing and  congratulated  those elected during the controversial Peoples Democratic Party PDP Ward, local government and State delegate Congresses that had been under litigations by Governor Fubara.

Fubara and his loyalists boycotted the exercise because of the allegation Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory Abuja and his loyalists hijacked the process.
