The wife of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 21 September governorship election in Edo, Mrs Ifeyinwa Ighodalo, has described the election as an opportunity to fight for their husbands and children.
She stated this on Monday at a campaign rally held at the Egor Local Government Council Secretariat in Benin.
She encouraged the women to come out en masse on the election day and give their votes to the can.
She said: “This election is for our children’s future. We fight for our husbands, but we fight for our children even more.
“If all the women in Edo State come out [to vote] next Saturday, all detractors will retreat to their shells.”
Speaking in the same vein, the wife of the State Governor, Mrs Betsy Obaseki, urged them to vote for a competent person who will work to ensure a “better life for our children and future generations.”
She described the election as an opportunity to vote for the right candidate to be governor by prioritizing competence in their voting choices.
“This election is different. It’s not about politics; it’s another opportunity to choose someone competent to lead us,” she said
