The Director of Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue Service Dr Aribibia John-Fubara, who was kidnapped 12 days ago has regained his freedom after allegedly paying N15 million ransom.
According to various family sources, the Director of Internal Revenue was released last Thursday at midnight, 6 am in one of the Islands near Bonny in Bonny local government area of Rivers State, but was finally reunited with his family on Friday, September 6, 2024.
A close family source to the released kidnapped victim, who pleaded anonymity claimed that the sum of 15 million Naira, was paid as ransom to secure the release, of the victim, Dr.Fubara.
At the time of filing this report, Rivers State Police Command had not confirmed his freedom and the circumstances of his freedom.
However, it would be recalled that the victim spent 12 days and 12 nights in the kidnapper’s den after his abduction at Okrika Waterfront near the Marine Base area of Port Harcourt.
Our Correspondent reports that various accounts claimed gunmen numbering about six, driving on a Speedboat, on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at about 8:20 pm, came through Okrika Waterfront near Marine Base, area of Port Harcourt and shot sporadically into the air to scare people.
After carefully identifying their target, they brazenly whisked the victim into the boat and zoomed off to an unknown destination.
