The governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule vowed to do everything and deploy any arsenal at his disposal to protect the people of Nasarawa State and their property. The governor vowed this at a closed-door security council meeting in Lafia on Monday.
Governor Sule who reiterated this on the face of the recurring spades of kidnapping, armed robbery, banditry and other crimes, said he will do all within his powers to put an end to crime and criminality in the state, which prides itself as the Home of Solid Minerals. A statement signed by his chief press secretary, Ibrahim Addra, said Governor Sule made this commitment when he met with heads of security agencies in Nasarawa State at the Government House, Lafia. He promised to heighten his administration’s efforts at ensuring the safety of everyone within the precincts of Nasarawa State.
The statement noted that Governor Sule assured the law enforcement officers of maximum cooperation to aid them in effectively and professionally discharging their responsibilities to address both the traditional and emerging crime patterns in the State. “In addition to all we have done, tell me what you need, and we shall provide them so we can secure our people,” he charged the officers of the law.
He was quoted as expressing his disgust with the new trend, especially in the Lafia metropolis where citizens are brazenly snatched by criminal gangs for ransom. “Recent unfortunate incidences in Lafia and other places in the State can not be allowed to continue. We can not afford to be complacent but intensify efforts and collaboration to safeguard our people,” the governor told the servicemen.
The statement pointed that the governor was clear that nothing is too much to deploy to ensure the safety of lives and property in the State, hence his willingness to commit resources to achieve this objective, “No expense is too much when it comes to providing security for our people. I call on our people and stakeholders to support the proactive measures being put in place to rid the state of crime,” it added.
