Today marks a significant and major breakthrough in the oil industry, with Dangote Refinery commencing commercial production of Premium Motor Spirit PMS, or Petrol, predominantly used by over 80% of African vehicles.

At a colourful launch today in Lagos, CEO of Dangote Refinery, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, beaming with smiles, revealed that his “ refinery will not cater for the Nigerian market, but the entire Sub-Saharan African market, with West Africa taking the front burner”.

Meaning, that neighbouring countries like Ghana, Togo, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, The Gambia, and others, will, henceforth, be supplied uninterrupted petroleum products.

Dangote further revealed that the petrol from his refinery is of international standards, to ensure value for money and preservation of motor vehicles, hence it is rather white, as displayed today.

Journalists were taken around the gantries to witness the commencement of commercial operations of petrol production today

As his refinery buys crude oil in Naira, not in USD, it will enhance the value of the Naira and will ultimately reduce prices and ensure all-round availability of the products
