Access to quality in Southwest and North Central zones of the country have received a major boost with the launch of the Access to Water and Water Quality Project by the Presidential Community Office.

Giving this hint on Thursday was Moremi Ojudu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (Southwest).

Addressing a team of journalists during an interactive session in Abuja, she confirmed that the Presidential Community Engagement Office, in partnership with Nestlé, OPS-WASH, ActionAid, and the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) launched an Access to Water and Water Quality Project in the South-West and North-Central regions of the country.

According to her, this initiative will address water scarcity and contamination in communities like Agbara, Adedigba, Ilashe, Odan, Ilupeju, Ilaniro, Korogboji, and Totowu.

These areas, she emphasised, will benefit from state-of-the-art, solar-powered boreholes and advanced water treatment facilities to ensure access to clean, safe drinking water.

While expressing optimism about the project, Ojudu said, “We are set to install state-of-the-art boreholes and water treatment facilities. As we align our efforts with the goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda to enhance water access and improve water quality in the communities, I look forward to the positive impact this initiative will have on our communities.”

This project, she further stressed, reflects the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to sustainable development and improving the well-being of Nigerians.

Echoing similar sentiments, Dr. Nicholas Igwe from OPS-WASH praised the collaboration, highlighting the critical role of government support in such initiatives.
