Police confirm kidnap of Fubara, Director of Internal Revenue in Rivers

*Police on manhunt for kidnappers

Tactical teams and Anti-Kidnapping departments of the the Rivers State Police Command have commenced a manhunt for the kidnappers of a Director with the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue Service, in Port Harcourt.

According to various accounts, gunmen numbering about six,  on a Speedboat, last Saturday, August 24, 2024, at about 8:20 pm, came through Okrika Waterfront near Marine Base, area of Port Harcourt, and shot sporadically into the air.

After carefully identifying their target, they brazenly whisked their victim into the boat and zoomed off to an unknown destination.

The victim simply identified as Aribibia John Fubara, is also a Knight of Saint Christopher, in the Anglican Communion, but could not be traced at the time of filing this report.

His Captors, are yet to establish contact. But the younger brother, Emmanuel Fubara, who confirmed the kidnapped incident said the matter has been officially reported to the Police.

When contacted, the Spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said: “The command is aware of the incident and the Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu has directed tactical units in the command to ensure that the victim is released unhurt. A manhunt has been launched to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to book.”Iringe-Koko said.
